Better Seeds, Better Harvests

Program:

Working with the East-West Seed Foundation, this programme engages farmers in Sripura Gram Panchayat through demonstration plots, hands-on training and market linkage support, aimed at shifting cultivation practices toward higher-yield, better-quality produce rather than simply providing inputs and leaving farmers to figure out the rest. The demonstration-plot model lets farmers see improved techniques working on land like their own before adopting them on their own fields. 500 farmers have been engaged through the programme so far. Beyond yield gains, the market linkage component is designed to make sure improved produce actually reaches buyers willing to pay for the quality difference, closing a gap that better farming technique alone doesn't solve.
