The Hard Work of Staying in School

Program:

Access to a school seat is only the first barrier vulnerable children in Mumbai face; staying enrolled, supported and confident enough to keep learning is the harder, longer problem. Running since FY 2022-23, this initiative strengthens the everyday support systems around a child's education: resources, continuity, and the kind of holistic development work that keeps a child engaged in school even when circumstances at home make that difficult. It's less a single flagship intervention and more sustained, quiet groundwork alongside families and communities.

Measurable Outcomes:

Over 500 children have benefited directly, with more than 1,500 family and community members reached indirectly. The programme has contributed to improved educational participation and greater family awareness of why continued education matters, particularly in communities where dropping out is often treated as the default option.
