Building a Reading Culture, Statewide

Program:

Epsilon Foundation in partnership with Room to Read India is supporting the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of Karnataka (DoSEL, GoK) in strengthening the availability of children’s literature at the state level and strengthening state-level capacities of officials/educators towards the usage of children’s literature and developing reading habits among children.  

The project focusses on 3 strands:

A) Strengthening the system and capacities of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) for curating and creating quality children’s literature collections of school libraries, year after year

B) Building capacities of educators towards developing reading habits among children

C) Strengthening of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Ballari as an expert institution in understanding various aspects of quality children’s literature in the space of foundational literacy
